But before showing you the steps in fixing and installing your Windows, let me give you some tips first to have a completely safe and successful run of your Windows. There are several accounts that will be affected when you do your installation and repair and may reset these to default like Sounds, Services, Visual Effect Settings, and Device Drivers. 1. Start your operating system and log on to your official account.

3. Choose one of the following steps according to what Windows 7 you have installed.
a. Fixing Windows 7 SP1 installation using ‘retail’ Windows 7 with SP1 installation Media
- Put your retail Windows 7 with SP1 installation DVD in your drive and choose the “Run setup.exe” option. If in case the Auto play doesn’t work, just open your drive folder (Computer) and click the setup.exe file found in your DVD drive.
- If the User Account Control (UAC) shows up, just click “Yes”.
- Then click the “Install Now” button.
b. Fixing Windows 7 SP1 installation using ‘retail’ Windows 7 without SP1 installation Media
- Put your retail Windows 7 without SP1 installation DVD in your drive. In your Computer Window, right click the drive and choose “Open”.
- Right click the setup.exe file and choose Properties.
- Then choose the Compatibility tab. Check this: “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” From the drop down, click on Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Click Apply then OK.
- Start the setup.exe file.
- If the User Account Control (UAC) shows up, just click “Yes”. Then start the installation.
4. There will be windows that are prompted during the installation, so just check or uncheck the items you would want to. Be sure click the “Accept” terms and conditions.
5. If there are problems occurred during the process, attend to them first and continue with the fix installation process again.
6. Windows 7 will automatically prepare your PC to startup.
7. Check for missing user files. You can restore them from your back up folders or from the “hidden” protected OS.
8. After checking, you can now run the “Disk CleanUp”.
9. Refresh WEI (Windows Experience Index) score.
10. After all the above steps, you may now activate Windows 7 and enable your security applications again.
