So to prevent PC problems that may cause a big damage to you and save more of your time, it is recommended that you optimize your PC regularly. Below are four simple steps in repairing and scanning to optimize your PC.

There is no need for you to slash your pocket just to have the highest approved third party program to make your PC run as if it was new. You can repair and scan your PC through Microsoft Windows utilities. Before you start to perform one of the following steps, be sure to close all files that are open as well as programs.

1. Clear all errors in your disks

Programs which aren’t working properly, usually crashed can cause disk errors. Electrical failure is also one of those reasons why your PC works so slowly. To eliminate these errors and optimize your PC, you should scan your disks regularly.

Just click the “Start” menu and choose “My Computer.”

Select the drive which you want to scan and right click the icon.

Go to “Properties” then check on the “Tools” tab.

Click on the “Check Now” button.

You can see checkboxes in this section; make sure to check all those before clicking the “Start” button. Scanning your disk errors will begin. The scanning usually takes an hour or more depending on the data to be scanned.

2. Delete temporary files

When you are checking over the internet, temporary files are developed. You can also collect temporary files while working in Microsoft Word or other Microsoft programs. When these temporary files are stored and almost occupy most of your space, your PC might cause delay on your programs while working.

To avoid this, simply delete these temporary files by clicking the “Start” menu and go to “My Computer.”

Select the drive from where you want to delete your temporary files and right click on the icon.

Then go to “Properties” and select “Disk Cleanup” button.

This may take a few minutes to hours depending on how huge or minute your temporary files are in the drive. Disk Cleanup scans your drive’s temporary files and provides you a list of sorted types of files in which when scanning is complete, you have to click the lists that you want to delete then click the “OK” button.

3. Put your data on the hard drive in order.

Your PC automatically splits files to make your PC work faster, however, in the long run; these will give you a huge fragmented data which results to slow PC performance.

To make your data in order, go to “My Computer” and select the drive you want to defrag.

Click “Properties” and select the “Tools” tab.

Click the “Defragment Now” button. This will give you a dialogue box in which you choose the drive and directly click the “Defragment” button.

4. Set up antivirus and antispyware software.

It’s no doubt that installing antispyware and antivirus programs lessen your PC problems. Hence, it is recommended that you fully run the system by clicking “Scan Now” button in your downloaded program. By doing this, your PC will be scanned and repair files which are corrupt.

If these steps didn’t give you the satisfaction you wanted, you can also visit your Microsoft helpdesk for more info and updates. You can also check out TuneUp Utilities. It’s not a free software but its the best solution to these kinds of PC problems.

Here’s a simple step – by – step directions you can follow.

But before showing you the steps in fixing and installing your Windows, let me give you some tips first to have a completely safe and successful run of your Windows. There are several accounts that will be affected when you do your installation and repair and may reset these to default like Sounds, Services, Visual Effect Settings, and Device Drivers. You may not also be able to sign in to MSN Messenger, you may also bring your custom settings and Media Center gadget into default but don’t worry, you can still go to your settings and modify them.
Very Important: Make sure that you backup all important data that you don’t want to lose first before doing the installation and repair.
a. Fixing Windows 7 SP1 installation using ‘retail’ Windows 7 with SP1 installation Media
- Put your retail Windows 7 with SP1 installation DVD in your drive and choose the “Run setup.exe” option. If in case the Auto play doesn’t work, just open your drive folder (Computer) and click the setup.exe file found in your DVD drive.
- Then click the “Install Now” button.
b. Fixing Windows 7 SP1 installation using ‘retail’ Windows 7 without SP1 installation Media
- Then choose the Compatibility tab. Check this: “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” From the drop down, click on Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Click Apply then OK.
- Start the setup.exe file.
4. There will be windows that are prompted during the installation, so just check or uncheck the items you would want to. Be sure click the “Accept” terms and conditions.
5. If there are problems occurred during the process, attend to them first and continue with the fix installation process again.
6. Windows 7 will automatically prepare your PC to startup.
7. Check for missing user files. You can restore them from your back up folders or from the “hidden” protected OS.
8. After checking, you can now run the “Disk CleanUp”.
It’s easy as one, two, three, that even little kids can learn it within a short time. There are some variations though, depending on what kind of computer you have. If you are using a desktop, simply follow these steps:

Step 1:
Plug in the computer’s power lead to the appropriate outlet.

Step 2:
Turn on the AVR.

Step 3:
Start the CPU by pressing on its power button.

Step 4:
Switch on the monitor; press its power button. The power button is usually located just below your screen. If you do not, as many people do, switch off your monitor during a shutdown, you may skip this step.

Step 5:
Wait for a minutes until your settings and systems are loaded. After that, you can now start working on your computer.

If you have a laptop or a netbook, booting it up is simply done by pressing the power button, which is usually located just below the screen. After pressing the power button, it’s just a matter of waiting for a minute or a few minutes before you can start working on whatever you want to do on your computer.

As I have just mentioned, booting up should take you only a few minutes or even less to complete. However, it can sometimes be sluggish. Especially, after using your computer for some time, you may find the boot up to be slow. There can be a lot of reasons for that.

One reason, which many computer users may not know, is that the system is loading several programs, including some which may be unnecessary, on startup. If you’re not aware of that, you may be left wondering why your computer takes decades to startup.

You can check whether this may be the case with your computer by running System Configuration Utility. To open System Configuration Utility, first, click on “start” and then click on “run”. Alternatively, you can just hit Windows + R on your keyboard. This will open the “Run” dialog. Type “msconfig” and hit enter or click “ok”. Check under “Startup” tab the list of your startup items. You may disable some items on the list which you may find unnecessary. To do that, just uncheck by clicking the check boxes corresponding to that item. Just be sure you know what you are disabling. Items which you don’t want to disable include your antivirus program.

Another good option you can have is to use TuneUp Utilities 2012. This is a powerful program which not only accelerates your computer’s start up and shutdown, but also boosts you its overall performance. It has over 30 tools you can take advantage of to bring life to your dying computer. It helps your computer function at its best like to how it did when you just bought it. So, learn not just how to boot up your computer; learn also how to boost its performance.
