While understanding the actual process behind a computer startup procedure may be a challenging task to do for many people, doing the actual boot up is oppositely very easy. Step 1:
Plug in the computer’s power lead to the appropriate outlet.

Step 2:

Step 3:
Start the CPU by pressing on its power button.

Switch on the monitor; press its power button. The power button is usually located just below your screen. If you do not, as many people do, switch off your monitor during a shutdown, you may skip this step.

Step 5:
Wait for a minutes until your settings and systems are loaded. After that, you can now start working on your computer.

If you have a laptop or a netbook, booting it up is simply done by pressing the power button, which is usually located just below the screen. After pressing the power button, it’s just a matter of waiting for a minute or a few minutes before you can start working on whatever you want to do on your computer.


As I have just mentioned, booting up should take you only a few minutes or even less to complete. However, it can sometimes be sluggish. Especially, after using your computer for some time, you may find the boot up to be slow. There can be a lot of reasons for that.

One reason, which many computer users may not know, is that the system is loading several programs, including some which may be unnecessary, on startup. If you’re not aware of that, you may be left wondering why your computer takes decades to startup.

You can check whether this may be the case with your computer by running System Configuration Utility. To open System Configuration Utility, first, click on “start” and then click on “run”. Alternatively, you can just hit Windows + R on your keyboard. This will open the “Run” dialog. Type “msconfig” and hit enter or click “ok”. Check under “Startup” tab the list of your startup items. You may disable some items on the list which you may find unnecessary. To do that, just uncheck by clicking the check boxes corresponding to that item. Just be sure you know what you are disabling. Items which you don’t want to disable include your antivirus program.
