Using your PC daily, 24/7 may cause your PC to slow down no matter how great your PC’s specs and features are. So to prevent PC problems that may cause a big damage to you and save more of your time, it is recommended that you optimize your PC regularly. Below are four simple steps in repairing and scanning to optimize your PC.
There is no need for you to slash your pocket just to have the highest approved third party program to make your PC run as if it was new. You can repair and scan your PC through Microsoft Windows utilities. Before you start to perform one of the following steps, be sure to close all files that are open as well as programs.
1. Clear all errors in your disks
Programs which aren’t working properly, usually crashed can cause disk errors. Electrical failure is also one of those reasons why your PC works so slowly. To eliminate these errors and optimize your PC, you should scan your disks regularly.
Just click the “Start” menu and choose “My Computer.”
Select the drive which you want to scan and right click the icon.
Go to “Properties” then check on the “Tools” tab.
Click on the “Check Now” button.
You can see checkboxes in this section; make sure to check all those before clicking the “Start” button. Scanning your disk errors will begin. The scanning usually takes an hour or more depending on the data to be scanned.
2. Delete temporary files
When you are checking over the internet, temporary files are developed. You can also collect temporary files while working in Microsoft Word or other Microsoft programs. When these temporary files are stored and almost occupy most of your space, your PC might cause delay on your programs while working.
To avoid this, simply delete these temporary files by clicking the “Start” menu and go to “My Computer.”
Select the drive from where you want to delete your temporary files and right click on the icon.
Then go to “Properties” and select “Disk Cleanup” button.
This may take a few minutes to hours depending on how huge or minute your temporary files are in the drive. Disk Cleanup scans your drive’s temporary files and provides you a list of sorted types of files in which when scanning is complete, you have to click the lists that you want to delete then click the “OK” button.
3. Put your data on the hard drive in order.
Your PC automatically splits files to make your PC work faster, however, in the long run; these will give you a huge fragmented data which results to slow PC performance.
To make your data in order, go to “My Computer” and select the drive you want to defrag.
Click “Properties” and select the “Tools” tab.
Click the “Defragment Now” button. This will give you a dialogue box in which you choose the drive and directly click the “Defragment” button.
4. Set up antivirus and antispyware software.
It’s no doubt that installing antispyware and antivirus programs lessen your PC problems. Hence, it is recommended that you fully run the system by clicking “Scan Now” button in your downloaded program. By doing this, your PC will be scanned and repair files which are corrupt.
